YouTube will take down violent videos of Christchurch’s massacre

This afternoon, there was a mass shooting incident in Christchurch, New Zealand which reported to have killed dozens of worshippers at a mosque. The act of terror was streamed live by the perpetrator on Facebook for 17 minutes.

YouTube had sent out a tweet expressing condolences on the tragedy and they have emphasised that they are working vigilantly to remove any violent footage from the incident.

The New Zealand police are aware of the disturbing footage and they have urged the public not to share the content. The police also mentioned that they are working to remove the footage uploaded online.

At the moment, the Malaysia High Commission in New Zealand has confirmed that one Malaysian was injured and is currently receiving treatment. If you have received any video from the New Zealand terror attack, it is recommended that you delete the video and not to share it with anyone else. If you spot the footage on Facebook, YouTube or other social platforms, do report it so that the providers can take it down.

UPDATE: Wisma Putra has confirmed that another Malaysian was injured. It was reported that 40 people have lost their lives in the incident.
