XOX now supports mobile number portability for its eSIM plans

You can now switch to XOX eSIM and bring your mobile number along as the operator has announced that it now supports mobile number portability (MNP) for its eSIM plans.

An eSIM is an embedded SIM within a device which allows you to subscribe to a mobile service without requiring a physical SIM card.

MNP gives you the freedom to take your mobile number with you when you switch to a new service provider saving you from the hassle of updating your contacts that you’ve changed your number. With MNP now available for XOX eSIM you have the option to switch to an eSIM enabled operator while keeping your current mobile number.

For its eSIM plans, XOX is offering four options that start from RM39/month. The base B39 plan comes with 8GB data with 50 minutes of calls and 50 SMS. As a promo for eSIM users, they have also introduced a B59e plan that offers unlimited calls, 100 SMS and 12GB + free 3GB data for RM59/month.

The good thing about the XOX plans are that unused data can be carried forward and there are no contracts. The other benefit with XOX’s eSIM is that application can be done completely online without the need to go to a physical store.

To activate the eSIM on the iPhone XS is pretty straightforward. Just apply online by submitting a copy of your identification card and make payment for the plan you want. After the transaction is completed, XOX will show you the QR code that you can scan to activate your eSIM. The QR code and activation details are also sent to your registered email address. Do note that your iPhone must be running on iOS 12.1.1 or newer.

At the moment XOX’s eSIM supports the following devices.

iPhone XR
iPhone XS
iPhone XS Max
iPad Pro (2018)
Google Pixel 3 XL
Google Pixel 3
Google Pixel 2 XL
Google Pixel 2

XOX’s eSIM is currently applicable for new registrations only and they are still working on an option for existing XOX customers. According to the FAQ, you can move your eSIM subscription to another device. Just delete the eSIM plan on the old unit and you can scan the same QR code on the new device to make the switch.
