AirAsia today opens the doors to its very own technology centre in Bengaluru, India. The centre takes AirAsia a step closer to becoming a travel technology company.
Formerly known as Bangalore, Bengaluru has earned a reputation of being India’s Silicon Valley and is the centre of India’s technology industry. AirAsia’s technology centre will be in good company with other tech companies such as Google, Microsoft and Amazon, among others.

The team will work to streamline the airline’s digital assets such as airasia.com and the AirAsia mobile app, alongside the creation and implementation of new products and enhancements such as the new AI-powered chatbot, AVA, to deliver a seamless end-to-end user exeprience for the airline’s guests.
AirAsia Deputy Group CEO (Technology and Digital) Aireen Omar said, “India is a source for innovation and cutting-edge technology, and offers us tremendous growth potential when it comes to our mission to develop an all-encompassing travel technology ecosystem. This is why we are so excited to expand our footprint in India with the opening of a new technology centre.

The opening of the new technology centre is one of many global initiatives AirAsia is exploring to drive its digital transformation. In recent times, AirAsia has implemented a number of new technology-driven enhancements to its services including flight search mapping and voice assistance that deliver a more convenient and user-friendly experience on its mobile app.

The centre was officially opened today by AirAsia India MD & CEO Sunil Bhaskaran and AirAsia Group Head of Software Engineering and Technology Elias Vafiadis.
