The mySalam scheme is an initiative by the government that offers free health insurance coverage for those who are from the low income group, also known as the B40.
This protection cover under the mySalam scheme was first introduced last month. But now, there’s finally an official web portal for the scheme which allows eligible Malaysians to register and make their claims online.
Beneficiaries can make their claims starting from the 1st of March 2019 and the checks can be performed on the www.mysalam.com.my which was launched yesterday.
All mySalam recipients can file their claims via the mySalam portal. Do note that all claims must be submitted along with the required documents that has been verified by a doctor from a government hospital.
The scheme covers 36 critical diseases, including cancer and heart disease, with a one-time payment of up to RM8,000. On top of that, the mySalam scheme also provides an income replacement payment of RM50 per day to those who receive treatment at any government hospital for a maximum of 14 days, or RM700 per year.
At the moment, the scheme does not cover patients who are receiving treatment at a private hospital, so do take note of that.
