This claims to be the only tempered glass that will work with the Galaxy S10 and S10+

A few days ago, it appears that screen protectors and tempered glass will not work with the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ because of its new ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. A case maker that tweeted that it won’t work and there’s an even a video of a Galaxy S10+ that has a big cut-out-hole on the tempered glass.

If you still require extra protection for your upcoming Galaxy S10 and S10+, one accessory maker claims that their tempered glass will work on the latest flagship duo with no issues.

Whitestone Dome Glass

Whitestone’s Dome Glass is said to be the only tempered glass solution that will support the Galaxy S10’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. According to them, ultrasonic fingerprint technology is the strongest method of security, however, it won’t work if there’s an air-gap when you apply a standard tempered glass screen protector.

With Dome Glass, it uses a liquid optically clear adhesive which provides a full coverage while providing the highest touch sensitivity to all areas including the curved edges. A two-pack costs US59.99 (about RM244).

This Dome Glass protector isn’t the same as your regular tempered glass. It has a special liquid adhesive which requires a special frame to apply. On top of that, there’s also an extra step which requires a UV light to cure the adhesive. Just check out the installation video below for the Galaxy Note9.

At the moment, the Dome Glass pages for the Galaxy S10 have been pulled down. You can still see a cached copy here and here.

Samsung’s original screen protectors

If you’re looking for something simpler, it appears that Samsung is releasing its very own screen protectors for the entire Galaxy S10 series. Based on the image below that was shared by serial leakster, Roland Quandt, the official screen protectors will be available for the Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10+. It’s worth noting that the official packaging mentions that the screen protector can protect the device from external shock. It isn’t clear if Samsung is using a different material to ensure compatibility with its fingerprint sensor.

If you plan on getting a screen protector for the upcoming Galaxy S10, you gotta make sure that it is compatible with the new in-display fingerprint sensor. Having a cut-out-hole in the middle of the screen is just too ugly. For greater peace of mind, it is recommended that you purchase a screen crack protection plan as the dual-curved AMOLED screen could cost a bomb to replace.
