Samsung is looking to capture that value-conscious segment in a big way. The Korean smartphone brand was once a dominant player in a huge market like India but lately, they were overtaken by more affordable Chinese rivals like Xiaomi. Apart from Xiaomi, there are other “cheap and good” contenders like Pocophone, Realme and ASUS with its Zenfone Max Pro M2.
To counter the influx of very good yet very affordable devices, Samsung recently introduced the Galaxy M range of device. The first two of the range – the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 – was released in India, and now it looks like another Galaxy M device is ready to make its debut – the Galaxy M30
The Galaxy M30 looks to be the flagship of the Galaxy M range of phones. The device is expected to feature a 6.38-inch Infinity V LCD FHD+ display with 2210×1080 resolution. In comparison, the Galaxy M30 is slightly larger than the 6.38-inch Galaxy M20.
The M30 is expected to pack the same Exynos 7904 chipset as the one in the Galaxy M20 but with a larger 6GB RAM and possibly 128GB of onboard storage.
The M30 is also expected to use the same 13MP f/1.9 rear camera and 5MP ultra-wide angle camera as the M20 but with an additional 5MP f/2.2 camera possibly for depth effects. At the front, expect a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera.
Other similarities with the M20 are a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 5000mAh battery.
There’s no information about when the Galaxy M30 will be released and if it will be coming to Malaysia. However, considering how sub-RM1k phones are gaining popularity in the country, it’s probably only a matter of time before we see the Galaxy M devices here.
