For the 10th anniversary Galaxy S flagship, Samsung is expected to release a ceramic variant for the Galaxy S10+. From our experience with the Xiaomi Mi MIX series, ceramic feels more premium to hold and it looks better than glass. Ahead of its launch that’s happening in two weeks, we now get a peek of the premium edition of the Galaxy S10+ thanks to serial
Based on his leaked press renders, the premium variant will be called the Ceramic Black. It appears to have a slight hue of brown compared to the Prism Black colour option. The colour difference appears to be quite subtle and we expect the device to look better in the flesh.
For the Galaxy S10+, it was speculated that Samsung will release a higher-spec version with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage which will come with an exclusive ceramic back. This could be Samsung’s most expensive flagship smartphone yet with an expected price tag of 1,600 Euros or 1,399 Pounds, which is about RM7,400-RM7,500.
Of course, European pricing is typically higher than Malaysia and you can expect the device to be priced lower if it comes here. For example, the Galaxy Note9 512GB is officially priced at RM4,599 but in the UK, it is going for 1,099 Pounds (about RM5,807).
While ceramic is more scratch resistant than glass, it is more likely to shatter if it drops onto hard surfaces. Obviously, the best way to experience a ceramic phone is without a case. But if you’re going to put a case on it, the Ceramic Black version would not look any different from the normal glass version.
The Galaxy S10 launch is happening on 20th February in San Francisco, and the event will be streamed live at 3am Malaysian time on 21st February.
