Here’s a clearer look at the Galaxy S10e’s side-mounted fingerprint sensor and punch-hole display

The Samsung Galaxy S10e will be unveiled together with the latest Galaxy S10 and S10+ flagships. Unlike the bigger duo, the S10e is expected to be the more affordable variant with a smaller 5.8″ display that’s flat. Since it’s more affordable in price, it is definitely a notch below in specs with fewer cameras and it also lacks the fancy in-display fingerprint sensor.

Leakster Roland Quandt had previously shared a couple of high-resolution press renders and this time, he managed to get his hands on the side profile of the device. This gives us a clearer look at the side-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as the bezels of the non-curved screen.

As seen here, the power button is placed on the right and it looks flush with the body. Since it also doubles up as a fingerprint sensor, the surface area is wider than usual. While this is the first Galaxy S model to get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, this isn’t the first for Samsung as it was featured on their mid-range Galaxy A7.

Looking at the placement, it appears to be quite high and it’s about the same height as the camera bump. This shouldn’t be a problem for right handed people that uses their thumb but it could be a challenge for left handed people as they would have to stretch their index finger to unlock the device.

The Galaxy S10e will feature an Infinity-O display that has a punch-hole for its selfie camera. Unlike the Honor View 20 and Huawei Nova 4, the punch-hole is placed on the top right corner instead of having it on the top left corner. Without a curved-display, the bezels are noticeably thicker and the S10e still has a thicker chin at the bottom of the display. The rear still uses a dual-curved glass for a more upmarket appearance.

The Galaxy S10e is speculated to come with the same flagship processor as its bigger peers with either a Snapdragon 855 processor or an Exynos 9820 unit. While the Galaxy S10e comes with a 5.8″ display, the S10 will get a larger 6.1″ display while the S10+ is slightly bigger with a 6.4″ panel.
