The latest firmware update for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro – 9.0.0.187 (C432E10R1P16) – is now available for download.
In addition to getting the latest Google security patch (January 2019) and some minor bug fixes, the update brings with it a dedicated “Super Macro” mode in the camera mode.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, doesn’t the Mate 20 Pro already have a “Super Macro” mode? Well yes, but previously the “Super Macro” mode was an AI mode that activated automatically when the device detects that you want to shoot something super close up.
Now, with the new update, the “Super Macro” mode is available as a dedicated camera mode in the camera app. The features and the capabilities of the “Super Macro” mode
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has one of the best cameras you can get on a smartphone right now. On DxOmark the Mate 20 Pro sits on the number one spot with an overall score of 109 points. The Mate 20 Pro shares the same DxoMark score as its sibling, the P20 Pro but the Mate20 Pro has one a feature that sets it apart from the P20 Pro — a wide angle camera.
The wide-angle camera makes the Mate 20 Pro a very useful tool when taking pictures especially in tight spaces where you don’t have enough room to stand far away enough from a subject to capture the whole scene.
The wide-angle camera is also used to good effect in the “Super Macro” mode. As you can see in the sample picture below, the Mate 20 Pro captures a high level of detail that can give stand-alone DSLR a run for its money.
