This is the Honor View 20’s price in Malaysia

Finally, after what felt like a really long wait, Honor has dropped the official pricing details for their brand new flagship smartphone, the Honor View 20. Want to get your hands on this smartphone, here’s what you need to know.

The Honor View 20 will come in two variants. The base model features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and is priced at RM1,999. This particular memory configuration will come in two colours: Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue. Should you need more oomph, there’s also a Phantom Blue variant — co-designed by Italian luxury fashion brand Moschino — that ups the ante to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. With this bump in memory, there’s also a bump in price as this variant will retail for RM2,499. That said, if you don’t like blue, this Moschino variant will have a Phantom Red colourway, but that won’t be available at launch and will come at a later date.

Honor Malaysia will also be giving away RM700 worth of goodies to early bird customers when this device goes on sale on the 26th of January. All you need to do is be among the first 1,000 customers to buy one from the roadshow at 1 Utama to win something. Details here.

I know a lot of you have been waiting for this smartphone, but to those of you who need a refresher on why this smartphone is so highly anticipated, here’s the gist. Honor’s new smartphone is a proper flagship smartphone and it packs the company’s latest — and most capable — Kirin 980 processor. But, that’s not all because this is also one of the first smartphones — the first to go on sale in Malaysia — to feature the new-age punch-hole smartphone display.

So, instead of a notch, or a complicated slider mechanism, what Honor has done is “cut” a hole in their display and have the 25MP selfie shooter peek through. It’s not more obtrusive than a slightly oversized icon, so this could be one off the best solutions to the notch. The display itself is a 6.4-inch Full HD+ IPS display pushing 2310×1080 pixels. Thanks to this minimal cutout, the Honor View 20 is able to achieve a screen-to-body ratio of 91.82%. Not quite the Mi MIX 3 or Oppo Find X, but very impressive nonetheless.

Besides that, the Honor View 20 also features a 48MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens. This sensor is supported by a secondary Time of Flight (ToF) camera. If you don’t know what that is, you’re not alone. Basically, this ToF camera is there to help the View 20 capture objects in 3D, which Honor uses to improve their beautification features, and add Kinect-like motion sensing. What’s more, the main 48MP sensor can also use 4-in-1 pixel binning and AI-assisted stabilisation for better low light performance.

In true flagship smartphone fashion, the Honor View 20 is built out of glass and metal, but despite its svelte frame, the device actually packs a large 4,000 mAh battery inside. This battery supports fast-charging (4.5V/5A) and charges via a USB-C port. Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack (yay!), a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and Android 9 Pie out of the box.
