SOCAR lets you drive to Penang for free

SOCAR is expanding to Penang and they are now offering one-way booking to the island for free. This promo is available from now until 31st January 2019.

With this offer, you can book a free one-way trip from any One-way SOCAR pick-up zones to Penang for 24 hours. To enjoy this offer, just add the promo code PENANG in the SOCAR app.

Do note that you must drop off the vehicle at Queensbay Mall open site #6 and #7. Petrol is free using the included petrol card that’s provided in each SOCAR vehicle. For a full 24-hour booking, you’re given a free mileage limit of 240KM.

Since Penang is about 360KM away, you would definitely need to pay for excess mileage that’s charged at RM0.25 per KM at the end of your booking. An extra 120KM would cost about RM30, which is still a very good deal overall.

Another thing that you should know is that you can’t make any SOCAR bookings from Penang to the Klang Valley at the moment. So you would need to find other modes of transportation if you’re doing a return trip to Penang.

For those who have not signed up for SOCAR, they are running a new promotion where you can get a 50% waiver on their one-time registration free. It normally costs RM50 and it’s now offered for only RM25 until 14 February 2019. This fee will be charged on your first SOCAR booking. The new promotion also provides 3 hours off for your first booking.
