Recently, Cathay Pacific had unintentionally sold premium first and business class seats at economy class seat prices during their New Year’s day sale. Several bargain hunters had taken advantage of the glitch and paid as little as RM2,800 for a return business class seat from Vietnam to North America which usually costs about RM19,000.
For those who are wondering if the crazy cheap tickets will be honoured, Cathay Pacific has confirmed via Twitter that these tickets will be valid for travel.
The airline had acknowledged the mistake and they will welcome passengers who have taken advantage of the special tickets on board their flights. The tweet ended with the hashtag #promisemadepromisekept and #lessonlearnt.
It’s great that Cathay Pacific is honouring these tickets and these lucky folks can enjoy a premium experience at a fraction of the price. Online ticketing glitches have occurred before, however, some airlines would void such tickets and would issue a refund instead.
