Huawei Y7 2019

After introducing the Huawei Y Max, the Chinese smartphone maker is about to release a smaller and affordable version with the Huawei Y9 2019. It also gets a tiny waterdrop notch, dual-cameras with AI enhancement and it will also run on a Snapdragon processor.

According to serial leakster, Roland Quandt, the Huawei Y9 2019 will feature a 6.26″ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. However, it pushes a lower HD+ resolution of 1520×720 pixels.

Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 450 processor and it is said to come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage which is still expandable via microSD.

In terms of optics, it is expected to come with a 16MP selfie camera, while the rear gets a 13MP f/1.8 + 2MP camera combo that offers depth of field effects. According to Roland, it will get a host of AI features including scene detection.

Despite being a budget device, the Y7 2019 is getting a large 4,000mAh battery but it still charges via microUSB. Don’t expect any fast charging with this one but the battery capacity should be more than enough to last a whole day.

The overall design looks pretty decent and it looks like a Huawei P20 with its vertical dual-camera layout that comes with a glossy looking back. From the leaked image above, it looks like there’s some gradient effect as well.

The Huawei Y Max 2018 is currently sold at RM1,299 in Malaysia, so we expect this new Y7 2019 to be priced under RM1,000. This might be one of the more affordable Huawei smartphones to come out next year but we reckon that you could get a better-spec’ed device under its Honor sub-brand like the Honor 10 Lite.
