Honor View 20 officially announced with 48MP and 3D depth sensing cameras

After giving a brief introduction a couple of weeks back, the Honor V20 is now official. As seen earlier, the V20 which is also known as the View 20 in global markets, features a full-screen display that comes with an in-screen selfie camera. The full hardware specs are also revealed along with its official pricing for China.

The Honor V20 comes with a 6.4″ Full HD+ IPS display that pushes a resolution of 2310×1080 pixels. According to Honor, the device has a body to screen ratio of 91.82% and the cut-out-hole for the 25MP f/2.0 selfie camera is 4.5mm in diameter In terms of design, the rear of the V20 gets a V-shape colour gradient design that has a reflective effect.

Unlike the Huawei Nova 4, the V20 runs on the latest Kirin 980 processor and you can get it with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. For the standard model, it comes with 128GB of storage, while the Moschino special edition comes with 256GB of storage. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a microSD storage expansion slot.

For imaging, the V20 comes with a dual-camera setup at the rear. It has a main 48MP f/1.8 main shooter that uses a 1/2.0″ SONY IMX586 sensor and a secondary ToF (Time of Flight) camera that can better capture objects in 3D. The 48MP camera has AI-assisted stabilisation for handheld night shots and it has a 4-in-1 pixel binning for better low light performance. The camera is also capable of recording slow-mo at 960fps.

Instead of your typical face beautification features, the V20 is capable of identifying your body accurately using its ToF Camera. It can recognise your limbs and motion accurately and you can shape your body to make it look slimmer.

On top of that, the ToF camera also offers a Microsoft Kinect-like motion sensing feature. Honor had demonstrated its use for a dance simulator and a ski game.

For better connectivity, the V20 also has a new Link Turbo which uses both WiFi and 4G LTE simultaneously. The device also features an AI-assisted dual-frequency GPS which provides a more accurate location tracking for navigation or fitness.

The Honor V20 comes with a 4,000mAh battery which charges quickly via USB-C with a bundled 4.5V/5A charger. The device also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and it has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Out of the box, it runs on Android 9.0 Pie with Honor’s MagicUI 2.0.1 skin on top.

In China, the Honor V20 is priced at 2,999CNY (about RM1,814) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model and 3,499CNY (about RM2,116) )for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version. The Moschino edition is priced at 3,999CNY (about RM2,419) and it comes with 8GB RAM + 256GB of storage.

The Honor View 20 will be making its global debut in Paris on 22 January 2019. Since we have the Honor View10, we expect Honor Malaysia to offer this device in our market early next year.
