Google Play Gift Cards are now available in Malaysia

To buy apps or content from the Google Play store, you can pay using your credit or debit cards or by carrier billing. In other countries, you can also get a Google Play Gift Card which you can buy from a physical store and then redeem the credits through your Google Account.

Interestingly, Google has finally listed Malaysia as one of the countries that offer the gift cards.

According to Google’s support pages, the Google Play Gift Card for Malaysia is available in denominations of RM50, RM100 and RM200. The attached T&C also states that these Gift Cards and reloads are issued by Google Payment Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

At the moment, the official Google Play Gift Card page for Malaysia has listed 7-Eleven as the sole retailer to offer the card. Unfortunately, when we reached out to 7-Eleven Malaysia, they told us that they currently do not offer such gift cards as of today, 18 December 2018.

We’ve also contacted Google Malaysia for a response and we will update this post once we have more info. Looking at the listing, the gift cards should be going on sale very soon.

UPDATE: 7 Eleven has informed us that the Google Play Gift Cards are now on sale at selected outlets and it will gradually be available in more 7 Eleven locations. We are told that they are making an official announcement soon. We’ve updated the title to reflect its availability.

Thanks @KevinNgTK for the tip!
