The EMUI 9.0 firmware update is available for HONOR View10, HONOR 10 and HONOR Play. If you are using one of these devices, you can start checking to see if the download is available. From your device, go to “Settings > Systems >Software Update”.

EMUI 9.0 is the latest firmware from Huawei for Huawei and Honor devices. The firmware made its debut with the Mate 20 series. Huawei claims that the interface is designed to be minimalist and intuitive to use. The simplified interface is optimised to provide better performance overall. In addition, EMUI 9.0 also supports Huawei’s GPU Turbo 2.0.

Huawei claims GPU Turbo 2.0 boosts graphics performance when an app — like a graphic-intense game — needs it. Huawei says that the technology will reduce touch latency by 36%. It will also decrease a device’s temperature by as much as 3.6° Celsius.

The EMUI 9.0 is claimed to be 25.8% more responsive, and you are able to launch apps 102ms faster than before. System “fluency” has also increased by 12.9%, meaning that you might notice transitions, OS animation and other such things improve as well, making devices running EMUI 9.0 appear smoother.

On top of that EMUI 9.0 brings a number of “AI” capabilities, most of is for Huawei’s HiVision program. HiVision is similar to Samsung’s Bixby in that the software can analyse pictures and pull related information related to the picture. HiVision can recognise landmarks, books, cars and even estimate calories from the food pictures that you take. HiVision can also do optical language translation in real-time like Google Translate.

The HONOR View10 was the first model to receive the update since yesterday. The HONOR 10 will receive the update by 20 December 2018, and HONOR Play will be next in the upcoming weeks.
