Air Asia CEO, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, says the low-cost carrier is planning to have special flights to take Harimau Malaya fans to Hanoi for the second leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup finals happening in Vietnam this Saturday (15 December).

The tigers will be facing off vietnam in a two-leg AFF Suzuki Cup finals this week. The first leg will be held at Bukit Jalil Stadium tomorrow (11 December) while the second will be held in Hanoi.

He mentioned about the plans for special flights to Hanoi during a session at the “Executive talk Air Asia: From Zero to Hero” event held at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin in Terengganu on Sunday.

He said the number of flights available would be based on the approval of the airport authorities in Hanoi and also on the performance of the tigers in the first-leg of the finals this Tuesday.

“We will use larger aircraft if given approval as well as increase the number of aircraft,” he said.

“At the moment we are not sure yet, but it is important to see how the national squad performs in the first leg of the finals and if their performance is outstanding then many supporters want to go to Hanoi,” he said.

Recently, AirAsia provided a special aircraft carrying Harimau Malaya supporters, especially members of the Ultras Malaya to Thailand for the second leg of the AFF Suzuki 2018 Cup semi-finals at the Rajamangala National Stadium.
