Touch ‘n Go RFID is now open for registration in Penang

Drivers in Penang can now sign up for Touch ‘n Go’s RFID Pilot program. This is a contactless payment alternative to SmartTAG and they had begun public testing in the Klang Valley a few months ago.

According to Touch ‘n Go, RFID payments are current accepted on the Butterworth Kulim Expressway (BKE), Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) and Penang Second Bridge. The main Penang Bridge isn’t enabled at the moment.

There are only two RFID fitment centres in the state located at Bayan Lepas and Bukit Mertajam.

If you’re interested, you can register yourself here. After registration, Touch ‘n Go will contact you by email and you can make an appointment for RFID fitting.

Is Touch ‘n Go RFID better than SmartTAG? Do check out our comprehensive review here.

Highway concessionaire, PLUS, had recently announced their RFID pilot program and it is expected to begin on 15 December 2018. Unlike Touch ‘n Go, there’s no e-Wallet and toll charges will be deducted from your preferred credit and debit cards.
