If you are using the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, you will be happy to know that Xiaomi has released the Android 9 Pie update for MIUI for the Mi 8 Explorer Edition.
As per reports from Chinese sources, the update will be arriving with build number MIUI v10.1.2.0 PEACNFI and is about 2.1GB to download. The update brings performance improvements across the board and a set of new features for the Mi 8 Explorer Edition.
For one, the Android 9 Pie system is now designed to work cohesively with the notch. It optimizes the screen content display and allows the system or any apps to make full use of the entire screen.
This update also further manages the efficiency of the system. It allows to install applications faster without sacrificing long term performance. Apart from these handy new additions, users can also expect a smoother operating system, longer battery life as well as limited idle applications.
The new operating system also allows you to capture 960fps slow-motion videos, similar to the feature highlighted on the new flagship Mi Mix 3 that was launched a month ago. Super Night Scene will also be present at the latest OS. It is said to enhance low-light photography, just like the ones we saw on the Google’s Night Sight. When the shutter is pressed, the camera will take 8 shots using different exposure settings. The set is then combined to create one Super Night Scene photo, according to the update log.
Since I’ve not tried this feature myself, I could not judge if the Super Night Scene will work as good as Google’s Night Sight or Huawei’s spic Night Mode.
For now, the update is only available for the Chinese version of the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition.
