Xperia XZ4 is the first Sony smartphone with a triple-camera setup

Sony is still making smartphones and they will continue to unveil a new flagship at MWC 2019. Months before its official announcement, we now get a glimpse of the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ4. Not only it has a larger display to challenge the iPhone XS Max, this is also the first Sony flagship smartphone to come with a triple-camera setup for the rear.

The folks at MySmartPrice have obtained exclusive renders via serial leakster @onleaks which gives us a full 360-degree view of the upcoming flagship smartphone. Upfront, the Xperia XZ4 features a 6.5″ display that thankfully has no notch and it comes in a cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio. The screen size is quite a significant jump from the Xperia XZ3 that comes with a 6.0″ QuadHD+ OLED display.

When it comes to camera count, Sony is quite late in the game. The Xperia XZ2 Premium announced in April 2018 was their first flagship smartphone to feature dual-cameras. For the Xperia XZ4, it features three cameras at the back but so far there are no details on the individual cameras at the moment. On the Xperia XZ2 Premium, the secondary camera is a monochrome shooter which allows it to capture greater details in low light.

Instead of having a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor like the Xperia XZ2 and XZ3, it appears that the Xperia XZ4 will be utilising a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that’s integrated into the power button like the Xperia Z5. The device still comes with a dedicated camera shutter button.

Like the Xperia XZ2 and XZ3, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack and audio is pushed via USB-C. So far there are no mentions of its internal hardware but it is likely to run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8150 processor. You can also expect Sony to retain its IP68 dust and water resistance as well as a pair of stereo speakers.
