The Samsung Galaxy A8s is the Korean smartphone maker’s first phone to adopt the Infinity-O display. Instead of having a notch, the Galaxy A8s will have a all-screen display that comes with a cut-out-hole for the selfie camera.
Ahead of its official release, AllAboutSamsung.de has obtained more details of the upcoming device and this looks like Samsung’s most powerful mid-range smartphone yet.
According to their source, the Galaxy A8s will feature a 6.39″ Infinity-O display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution. Unlike other Galaxy A models that use AMOLED, the A8s is said to be using LCD supplied by China’s BOE.
In terms of internal hardware, the device looks promising as it is said to run on a Snapdragon 710 processor that’s mated with 6GB of RAM and has 128GB of storage. As usual, you can expand storage further up to 512GB extra via microSD.
According to AllAboutSamsung.de’s source, the A8s will retain a similar camera setup as the current triple-camera Galaxy A7. It will have an array of 24MP, 5MP and 10MP cameras at the rear, while the front comes with a 24MP front-facing shooter that’s housed in a 6.7mm hole. The device is expected to come with a modest 3,400mAh battery that charges via USB-C.
Interestingly, the Galaxy A8s is expected to launch only in January 2019 but there are still no details on the official pricing and availability. In case you missed it, Huawei is about to release a similar all-screen smartphone that has a hole for the selfie camera sometime in December.
