Maxis offers the Huawei Watch 2 at 75% off but…

UPDATE: Maxis has revised the terms of the promo. You are now required to purchase a device on contract to be eligible.

The Huawei Watch 2 is an Android Wear powered smartwatch that comes with 4G LTE connectivity. If you’re interested, Maxis is offering it with a massive 75% discount but there’s a catch.

Originally retailing at RM1,999, Maxis is offering the Watch 2 for RM500 exclusively for its postpaid and Hotlink prepaid customers. You’ll need to download the deal from the myMaxis or Hotlink Red app and redeem it from selected Maxis centres listed here.

According to the deal, this discount is applicable with any purchase in the Maxis Store. When we reached out to Maxis customer service online, they told us this 75% offer promo is only applicable with one of the following:

1) Sign up for any device contract (Zerolution360, Zerolution or Normal Device Contract)
2) Purchase any accessories from Maxis (outright purchase: stated price)
3) Sign up for a new rate plan with Maxis

To recap, the Huawei Watch 2 features a 1.2″ AMOLED display that pushes a resolution of 390×390. It has 4G LTE support via a nano-SIM, WiFi, bluetooth, GPS, barometer, 3-axis gyroscope, NFC, a speakerphone and heart-rate sensor built-in.  There’s also IP68 dust and water resistance and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The 420mAh battery is rated to last up to 2 days with normal use and it can be extended up to 25 days with its basic watch mode. You can learn about the Huawei Watch 2 in our full review.

Thanks @KevinNgTK for the tip!

UPDATE: Maxis has updated their promo and they now require a device purchase on contract at the Maxis store.
