Google could be working on a cheaper version of the Pixel 3

Following up on the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3XL, Google could be close to launching a cheaper version of the Pixel 3 and if the leaks are correct, the device might be called the Pixel 3 Lite.

First spotted on Russian tech blog — Roketzed — the same website that released the full-hands on video of the Pixel 3XL way before the device made its official debut, the Pixel 3 Lite (also known as by its codename “sargo”) could feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 chipset and more importantly a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The images suggest that the Pixel 3 Lite might have a similar design as the Pixel 2. The device even retains the coloured power button that was a design feature on the Google Pixel 2. To keep costs down, it looks like the body of the cheaper Pixel 3 Lite is made out of plastic instead of the fancy double-textured glass you get on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL.

The Pixel 3 Lite is expected to feature a 5.56-inch IPS panel that pushes a resolution of 2220×1080 pixels. On the inside, expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. In the camera department, expect a single 12MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Leaks also claim that the Pixel 3 Lite will have a 2,915mAh battery that charges via a USB-C cable and it might also include support for Quick Charging 4+.

Being a Google Pixel device, you can expect Android 9 Pie, out of the box.

The Pixel 3 Lite might make it debut in the first quarter of 2019 with an expected price range of between US$400 to US$500 which is around RM1,677 to RM2,096. For comparison, the Google Pixel 3 is currently priced at US$799 (around RM3,317) while the Pixel 3 XL cost US$899 (around RM3,733).
