MaxisONE Prime is a fibre broadband plus mobile postpaid combo that offers unlimited internet for both home and on the go. Previously, it was quite expensive since it’s only available for their highest MaxisONE 188 plan.
To make this combo more accessible to the masses, Maxis has refreshed its MaxisONE Prime offering where you can get it on their entry-level MaxisONE 98 plan. Now you can enjoy unlimited home broadband and unlimited mobile data from as little as RM187/month on Maxis. That’s 50% cheaper than what they used to offer last year.
Unlimited Home Fibre Plan from RM89/month
For the home broadband, you can pick any of its current affordable plans ranging from RM89/month for 30Mbps without calls, RM99/month for 30Mbps with unlimited calls and RM129/month for 100Mbps with unlimited calls.
Unlimited Postpaid from RM98/month
Next, you can pick any MaxisONE plan which include MaxisONE 98, 128, 158 and 188. With this MaxisONE Prime pairing, you can enjoy unlimited quota for all plans along plus unlimited calls and SMS. If all you need is a single postpaid line, you could just go for the base MaxisONE 98 option.
Supplementary Lines
The biggest difference for choosing a higher plan is the ability to add more MaxisONE Share lines at RM48/month each. You can only add one Share line on the RM98 plan, two on RM128 plan, three on the RM158 plan and up to a maximum of four lines on the RM188 plan. The supplementary lines also get to enjoy unlimited calls, SMS and data.
TV and PlayStation Bundles
On top of that, Maxis is also offering device bundling on a 24-month contract with MaxisONE Prime. You can add a Samsung 65″ 4K Smart TV with 12-month DIMSUM subscription for RM201/month or a Samsung 55″ 4K Smart TV with a PlayStation 4 Pro (1TB) with 12-month DIMSUM subscription for RM203/month.
Smartphone Bundles
You can also add a smartphone on contract with all MaxisONE plan options. However, if you plan to get it on Zerolution 360, you’ll have to subscribe to a MaxisONE 128 plan and above. They are also offering special discounts if you subscribe a MaxisONE 128 plan with at least one share Line. The Huawei Mate 20 is going for RM74/month on Zerolution 360 while the iPhone XS can be yours from RM129/month.
Backup 4G SIM
Another benefit of MaxisONE Prime is that you’ll get a 4G backup SIM for your home fibre broadband router. If your fibre network faces interruption, the 4G SIM will kick in to ensure continuous connectivity at home. I know some of you have asked this before, but, no, you can’t take this backup SIM card out and use it on your phone.
Although it promises unlimited internet, there is some form of fair usage policy in place. Their FAQ states that that if the combined data usage for both mobile principle and shared lines exceed 300GB per month, they have the right to limit video streaming quality to standard definition.
Existing MaxisONE Fibre customers can switch to this refreshed MaxisONE Prime but you’ll be tied with a new 24-month contract. For those switching from an existing MaxisONE Prime subscription, take note that you’ll lose the complimentary iflix VIP subscription. Interestingly, existing Maxis subscribers who have an existing device contract are allowed to switch over without penalty.
Overall, this is an interesting push from Maxis to acquire both home and mobile subscribers. At the bare minimum, you can get 30Mbps home fibre broadband with unlimited quota plus a postpaid line with unlimited data, calls and SMS for only RM187/month. If you need an extra supplementary line, that will cost you a total of RM235/month. That’s not bad for a fixed broadband and two unlimited postpaid lines.
For more info, check out the MaxisONE Prime page. If you’re interested, you’ll need to register yourself on their page and a representative will contact you within 48 hours.
UPDATE: A previous version of the post mentioned that Maxis is only offering smartphones on contract with MaxisONE Plan 128 and above. This has been corrected.
