Apple’s new iPhone models will be announced on 12 September

UPDATE: Here’s a peek at the new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Plus and Apple Watch Series 4.

After Samsung had introduced their Galaxy Note9, it’s time for Apple to unveil their latest iPhone models for 2018. The folks at Cupertino have finally dropped a date and it’s taking place in less than 2 weeks from now.

Apple’s event page is finally up and it only mentions that the venue is at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, Cupertino. It’s happening on 12 September at 10AM PDT which is on Thursday, 13 September at 1AM Malaysian Time.

Similar to last year, Apple is expected to release 3 new iPhone models which are likely to retain the same design language as the current iPhone X. According to Tim Cook, the iPhone X has been Apple’s best selling iPhone model for the past few quarters.

The new model is expected to come in 5.8″ and 6.5″ sizes using an OLED display. In addition, Apple is said to be releasing an affordable 6.1″ version that uses an LCD screen which would come in a variety of body colours.

We also might see a brand new Apple Watch Series 4 which is said to be bigger than its predecessors. Hopefully, Apple might provide some updates for their AirPower charging pad which was designed to allow charging of multiple wireless devices at the same time. The wireless charging accessory was announced a year ago but it hasn’t gone on sale yet.

To refresh your memory, the current iPhone models were announced on 13 September (Malaysian time). The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were officially available in Malaysia on 20 October 2017, while the iPhone X was sold here much later on 24 November 2017.

If we look at past releases, Apple has significantly reduced the wait time for official iPhone stocks to arrive in Malaysia. We got the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus just a month after first wave countries, while the iPhone X was released in Malaysia just weeks after Singapore.

Are you excited about the upcoming iPhone? Will it be called the iPhone XS or the iPhone X2? Let us know in the comments below.
