VAIO has returned to Malaysia with two new sleek notebooks

VAIO, the former PC brand of Sony, has finally made comeback in Malaysia via Nexstgo. As showcased earlier during Computex 2018, they have introduced the ultra-portable S11 and S13 notebooks that are pretty sleek and ultra-light.

The VAIO S11 is the smallest and lightest of the lot with an 11.6″ Full HD IPS display and it weighs only 850 grams with the use of a lightweight carbon fibre chassis. It runs on an Intel Core i5-8250U processor with 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and it’s rated to last up to 11 hours on a single charge.

Meanwhile, the larger S13 features a 13.3″ Full HD IPS display and it weighs 1.07kg using a magnesium alloy chassis. It’s available with either Core i5-8250U or i7-8550U processors and the battery can last up to 8 hours on a single charge.

The S11 is available in Black, Brown, Pink, Silver and White, while the S13 comes only in Black and Silver. In terms of connectivity, both VAIO notebooks are well equipped with 3x USB 3.0, an SD Card slot, HDMI, VGA and there’s even a LAN port.

According to its online store, the base S11 notebook with a Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB of SSD is currently listed at RM6,699. If you prefer a larger 13″ laptop, the base S13 model with the same configuration is going for RM6,399. For power users, the top of the line S13 model with a Core i7 unit, 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is listed for RM8,199.

That’s quite pricey considering the display for both models are not touch-enabled. When Sony Malaysia launched a similarly designed VAIO Pro 13 in 2013, the Core i7 model was going for less than RM5,000 and it even comes with a touch-enabled Full HD display. In order to stand out from the rest, Nexstgo is banking hard on VAIO’s “Made in Japan” craftsmanship and reliability.

As a pre-order promo, Nexstgo is offering an additional 1-year warranty (worth RM399) if you purchase the VAIO S11 or S13 between 18 August to 17 September 2018. If you’re interested, the latest VAIO notebooks are now available on the VAIO Official store on Lazada Malaysia. To learn more, you can check out our first impressions.
