Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is now on sale in Malaysia from as low as RM1,699

Looking for a large screen Samsung smartphone? The Galaxy A8 Star is now available in Malaysia. Compared to the current Galaxy A8 (2018), it offers a larger display, more storage and a significantly bigger battery.

Both Samsung’s online store and certified authorised partner on Lazada have listed the Galaxy A8 Star at RM1,799. However, retailer DirectD is offering the same Samsung Malaysia unit for RM1,699. The Galaxy A8 Star comes in either Black or White.

To recap on the specs, the Galaxy A8 Star comes with a 6.3″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED display and under the hood, it runs on a powerful Snapdragon 660 processor with 4GB of RAM. Onboard, it has 64GB of storage which is expandable via microSD.

For taking pictures, the A8 Star comes with a dual-camera setup that’s placed vertically on the back. It has a 16MP f/1.7 main camera and a secondary 24MP f/1.7 shooter that can produce Live Focus effects.

For selfies, it has a high resolution 24MP front camera which comes with Pro lighting and Smart Beauty effects.

It has a 3,700mAh battery which isn’t as large as the Galaxy A9 Pro but it’s bigger than its current Galaxy A8+, S9+ and Galaxy Note8. Unlike the Galaxy A8 and A8+, the Galaxy A8 Star doesn’t come with IP68 dust and water resistance. However, it still charges via USB-C and it retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. Out of the box, it runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.
