Xiaomi will be having a global smartphone launch in Spain next week and they will reveal not one but two new Android One powered smartphones. It’s almost a year since the bang for buck Mi A1 was announced and now it’s the right time for Xiaomi to release a new contender for 2018.
The next Android One device will be the Mi A2 which is expected to be based on the Mi 6X. Like most new Xiaomi devices, the Mi 6X has a 5.99″ Full HD+ 18:9 display and it runs on a Snapdragon 660 Octa-Core processor with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. For imaging, it gets a 12MP + 20MP dual-camera combo plus a 20MP selfie camera.
Unfortunately, the Mi 6X still gets a modest 3,080mAh battery but it does support Quick Charge 3.0 via USB-C. Another omission is a headphone jack so you’ll need to use a dongle if you plan on using headphones.

Based on the latest teaser, Xiaomi will also announce the Mi A2 Lite. This will be an affordable version and it was recently spotted on our SIRIM database.
According to early speculation, it will come with a 5.84″ Full HD+ display with a notch and it runs on a familiar Snapdragon 625 processor with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Also retained is a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup and a front-facing 5MP selfie shooter. The biggest highlight is the battery as it’s listed on TENAA with a 3,900mAh capacity.
Being an Android One device, you can expect both Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite to come with a clean stock experience and it will enjoy two years of software updates and security patches. Stay tuned to us next week for more details of these new devices.
