As revealed yesterday, the ASUS ZenFone 5z is an affordable flagship smartphone that offers top-notch specs for less than RM1,900. If 6GB RAM and 128GB storage aren’t enough for you, it appears that ASUS Malaysia is also bringing their range-topping 8GB RAM and 256GB version of the ZenFone 5z very soon.
According to its listing on the ASUS official store in Lazada Malaysia, the ASUS ZenFone 5z with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage is going for RM2,299. That’s RM400 for more RAM and double the storage.
If we compare with other Snapdragon 845-powered smartphones, the OnePlus 6 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option is priced at RM3,099, while the new OPPO Find X with 8GB RAM and 256GB is priced at RM3,699. Over at Xiaomi, the Mi MIX 2S with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at RM2,199.
To recap, the ZenFone 5z features a 6.2″ Full HD+ display with a notch and it looks identical to the ASUS ZenFone 5 with its iPhone X inspired notch and rear dual-cameras. For photography, it gets a 12MP f/1.8 + 8MP wide-angle dual-camera combo while the front comes with an 8MP f/2.0 selfie shooter.
It has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and powering the ZenFone 5z is a 3,300mAh battery which supports fast charging via USB-C. It isn’t clear when it will go on sale but we are told that ASUS Malaysia will be making an announcement on their Facebook page on 30 July 2018.
