The full screen Mi MIX 2S is now available in Malaysia

If you’re looking for the ultimate Xiaomi smartphone, the Mi MIX 2S is now on sale in Malaysia. This is the updated version of their “bezel-less” full screen smartphone which now runs on a more powerful processor and has dual-AI cameras.

The Mi MIX 2S was introduced about two months ago and it can be yours for RM2,399 via DirectD. They only offer the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage version and it only comes in black. Since it isn’t sold officially in Malaysia, DirectD’s Mi MIX 2S is an import set with a 12-month in-house warranty. According to the listing, the device is an international version which runs on official global ROM.

To refresh your memory, the Mi MIX 2S gets a 5.99″ 18:9 IPS display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution of 2160×1080. The front is identical to the Mi MIX 2 where the display stretches edge to edge on the upper part of the phone and there’s a bottom chin which houses a 5MP selfie camera.

The biggest change is the processor as it runs on a Snapdragon 845 processor that’s mated to 6GB RAM or 8GB of RAM with storage options of up to 256GB. The ceramic back has a dual 12MP+12MP camera setup that has dual pixel autofocus with OIS. The primary camera uses Sony’s IMX363 sensor which has a larger 1.4 microns pixel size.

The Mi MIX 2S gets a DxOMark score of 97 which puts it on par with the iPhone X. It retains the same 3,400mAh battery as the Mi MIX 2 but this newer model gets added support for Qi Wireless Charging.

If you don’t need the latest, last year’s Mi MIX 2 (6GB RAM + 64GB storage) is now going for RM1,699 while the Special Edition full ceramic White version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at RM2,299. The prices mentioned here are for official Malaysia set and both units are available from the Mi Store on Lazada. The MIX 2 looks similar to the MIX 2S but it runs a previous generation Snapdragon 835 processor while the rear gets a single 12MP f/2.0 main camera.
