This is the honor 10 and its purported specs

The honor 10 will be announced this Thursday and it could be heading for Malaysia very soon. This is the affordable alternative to the Huawei P20 that offers flagship specs at a lower price point. Serial leakster Roland Quandt has dropped more clues including renders of all three colour options.

As expected, the honor 10 is heavily based on the standard Huawei P20 and it has a couple of design tweaks. Instead of a landscape oriented back with a vertically placed camera bump, it settles for a standard horizontal dual-camera placement like previous honor models.

In front, it gets a 5.84″ LCD display with a notch that pushes a 2280×1080 pixels resolution which is likely from the P20 Lite. There’s also a sizeable chin at the bottom which houses a fingerprint sensor. In terms of build, the honor 10 uses glass for both front and back that’s sandwiched with an aluminium frame. As you can see here, they have also retained the Aurora Glass treatment for a more upmarket appearance.

Instead of putting a “DUAL CAMERA” label at the rear, honor pushing the 10 as an AI CAMERA smartphone. Interestingly, the rear is said to feature a 20MP + 24MP camera combo which is different from the TENAA certification listing that indicates a 16MP + 24MP arrangement. Meanwhile, the front comes with a 24MP selfie shooter like the current P20 series.

Under the hood, it will run on their flagship Kirin 970 chipset with a dedicated NPU. The honor 10 is expected to come with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM with storage options of either 64GB or 128GB without microSD expansion.

Powering the honor 10 is a 3,320mAh battery which is quite close to the Huawei P20 that has 3,400mAh capacity. To keep the price low, it is possible that honor might use eMMC storage instead of UFS just like the honor 9 and honor 8.

Another interesting addition is a 3.5mm headphone jack which has been removed from the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro in favour for USB-C audio. Out of the box, it will run on the latest Android 8.1 with Huawei’s EMUI 8.1 skin on top.

We will definitely find out more in the next few days as the official launch is taking place on 19 April in Shanghai.
