UPDATE: The 14th General Election is happening on 9 May.
UPDATE 2: You can now check the actual venue for polling day.
Parliament was dissolved last week and the 14th Malaysian general election is happening very soon. If you’re a registered voter, it is advisable that you check your voting details at least a week before you head to the polls.
Whether this is your first time or if you’ve cast your vote before, here are three ways to check on your current status.
MySPR Semak App
For greater convenience, the Election Commision has an app which allows any registered voter to check on their status and polling stations for general (PRU), state (PRN) and by-elections (PRK). The app also lets you view the list of candidates as well as the results of the election when it’s available.
>> The MySPR app is available on the AppStore (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
Election Commission of Malaysia website
If you don’t want to install any apps on your phone, you can also check via the web. It’s fairly quick and easy but you’ll need to enter a captcha number each time you request a check.
SMS Check
For those without internet connectivity or still using a feature phone, you can also check via SMS.
> >Send “SPR SEMAK <IC NUMBER without dash>” to 15888. (e.g. “SPR SEMAK 810203011234“).
Take note that this is a paid service and it will cost you 20 sen excluding GST for each request.
UPDATE: Nomination day for GE14 candidates is on 28 April. Election is on 9 May 2018.
