You can pay for MBPJ parking with your smartphone starting next month

After the termination of parking concessionaire Godell Parking Sdn Bhd, Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has reintroduced parking coupons last year which isn’t the most convenient way to pay for parking. You’ll need to buy the coupons in advance and it could be cumbersome if you need to display multiple coupons on your dashboard.

If you hate coupons, there’s a new alternative and you can pay for parking using your smartphone very soon.

MBPJ has just announced its Smart Selangor Parking app which allows motorists to pay for parking via a mobile app. In the first phase, the Smart Selangor Parking system will be tested at Dataran Sunway between 1-31 May 2018. There are 1,522 commercial parking lots in the area. Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya has a total of 24,484 parking lots.

Once this system goes live, there will only be two ways to pay parking which is via the app or with its current parking coupons. This means the old Pay and Display machines will no longer be used.

To use the app, users will need to register an account and top up a minimum of RM10. The rates remain unchanged at RM0.60 per hour. There’s also a daily rate of RM5/day and a monthly pass rate of RM100/month. To make a payment, users are required to enter the street name and the app also reminds you when your current parking is about to expire.

The Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) app will be available on both Android and iOS platforms beginning 23 April 2018 and it will be operational on 1 May 2018.

If you have any enquiries, you may contact MBPJ at 03-79563544 (ext 145, 138 or 132).
