The GoPro Fusion has finally arrived in Malaysia and it will be on sale in two week’s time. This is GoPro’s first 360 camera and it’s more expensive than your typical GoPro Hero6.
At RM3,199, it isn’t cheap and it’s positioned above your typical 360 cameras like the Gear VR or Ricoh Theta. With its two cameras (one on each side), it can capture 5.2K videos at 30fps or 3K videos at 60fps. For stills, it can shoot in 18MP. There are a total of 4 microphones which allows you to capture audio in spherical surround sound.
For steadier footage, it has built-in digital stabilisation and the Fusion is also water resistant up to 5 metres deep. It also supports voice commands and it connects via WiFi and Bluetooth. Do take note that the Fusion would require two high-performance microSD cards that are capable of recording Ultra HD resolution videos.
With 360 degree videos, story telling can be a challenge and GoPro aims to overcome that hurdle with its OverCapture feature. When you record a 360 video, OverCapture lets you capture the moment from every angle possible and you can decide what to do with your content after you’re done shooting.
There’s some production work involved, you can reframe your shots in a traditional flat Full HD format. Initially available only for desktop, you now get a Mobile OverCapture editing option on the updated GoPro App.
The GoPro Fusion camera is now available for pre-order at RM3,199 until 16 March 2018. Stocks will be available on 18 March and pre-order customers will get a free Fusion MasterClass training worth RM300 that’s happening on 24 March.
If you’re interested you can pre-order from a wide range of outlets including Lazada, Harvey Norman, senQ, Thunder Match and All IT Hypermarket.
