After showcasing its capabilities at CES 2018, vivo has finally revealed a commercial device with an in-display fingerprint sensor. This is the world’s smartphone that allows you to unlock with your fingerprint on the display itself.

vivo uses Synaptics’s solution which is an optical-based sensor that works underneath an OLED display. It isn’t as fast as today’s fingerprint sensor but Synaptics claims that it’s faster than Apple’s Face ID. Design-wise, the X20 Plus UD looks quite similar to the OnePlus 5T. It has a 6.43″ FullView AMOLED display which pushes a FullHD+ resolution.

Under the hood, the X20 Plus UD gets a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 processor with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. For imaging, it features 24MP + 5MP dual-cameras at the rear, while the front comes with a 24MP selfie shooter. Powering the device is a 3,800mAh battery which supports fast charging. Out of the box, it runs on Android 7.1.2 with vivo’s FunTouch OS skin on top.

The official price isn’t revealed yet but it is expected to be priced at 3,998CNY (about RM2,457).
