The Galaxy S9/S9+ will be announced at the end of next month during Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. If you can’t wait to get your hands on the latest Galaxy flagship, serial leakster @evleaks has dropped more clues on the Galaxy S9’s pre-order and release dates.
Based on his source, which he claims to be a C-level executive from a major case maker, the Galaxy S9/S9+ will launch on 26 February. He added that pre-orders will commence just a couple of days later on 1 March 2018 and customers can receive their units as early as 16 March 2018. Since Malaysia is a key market for Samsung, we should be among the first wave countries to receive the Galaxy S9/S9+.
According to a C-level executive at a major casemaker, the go-to-market schedule for Galaxy S9 / S9+ is as follows:
Launch – 2/26
Pre-orders – 3/1
Ships/releases – 3/16— Evan Blass (@evleaks) January 16, 2018
What’s interesting is the launch date of 26 February 2018. Traditionally, Samsung launches their flagship devices on a Sunday ahead of Mobile World Congress. The Galaxy S6/S6 edge was launched on Sunday, 1 March 2015, while the Galaxy S7/S7 edge was announced on 21 February 2016 which also falls on a Sunday. Of course, these are just speculative at the moment and Evan Blass hasn’t revealed who the case maker is. It’s possible that they are based in Asia, which explains the different dates. If the Galaxy S9 launch starts at 7:00 PM on 25 February in Barcelona, that’s 2:00 AM Malaysian time on 26 February.
