The OnePlus 5T is barely two months old and it isn’t surprising that OnePlus is already working on their next smartphone. If you’re looking for the next “flagship killer”, fortunately, you won’t have to wait for too long.
In an interview with CNET, OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, had dropped a few clues of their upcoming flagship which is likely to be called the OnePlus 6. Similar to the OnePlus 5, the OnePlus 6 is expected to arrive around June which is a couple of months after the Galaxy S9 is launched at MWC 2018.
When it comes to specs, Pete didn’t reveal much but it is confirmed that it will run on Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 845 processor. Obviously, the Galaxy S9 in the US will be the first smartphone to utilise this new processor and OnePlus will be among the next in line to use it.
While several smartphone players are banging hard on AI, OnePlus isn’t going to jump on the bandwagon anytime soon. They believe AI is just a buzzword and they have already introduced several smart features into their products without shouting much about AI.
In terms of sales, the OnePlus 5T is their fastest and best-selling product yet and they are looking to increase its reach through US telcos this year. It is reported that 85-90% of US customers are buying their phones from a telco. If they can strike a deal with a major partner, that could propel the OnePlus brand beyond tech enthusiasts.
The OnePlus 5T is already on sale in Malaysia and it’s priced from RM2,449 for the base 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model. The higher-spec 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option is priced at RM2,749.
