HTC U11 EYEs

HTC will be announcing a new smartphone next week and it’s all about selfies. Similar to the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018), the new HTC device will have dual-selfie front cameras and it’s also water resistant.

As leaked by @evleaks, the upcoming device will be called the HTC U11 EYEs and it will be launched in Beijing, Taipei and Hongkong simultaneously on 15 January 2018. Based on the images from Evan, it looks quite similar to the HTC U11+. It gets a 6.0″ 18:9 display which pushes a lower Full HD+ resolution (2160×1080) and it even has a similar 3,930mAh battery.

Under the hood, the U11 EYEs is said to run on a mid-range Snapdragon 652 Octa-Core processor but there’s a possibility that there’s a higher-spec variant with a Snapdragon 660 unit. As usual, there are two RAM and storage configurations of 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.

In terms of camera, the U11 EYEs is expected to come with two 5MP front cameras and a main 12MP shooter at the rear. It also has IP67 water resistance, squeezable Edge Sense and it will run on Android Nougat out of the box. According to @evleaks, the device is expected to be priced at 3,299 CNY which is about RM2,028 if converted directly.

The last “EYE” device from HTC was the Desire EYE that was introduced back in 2014. It was their selfie-centric smartphone that came with 13MP autofocus cameras for both front and back. Even the front gets a dual-tone LED flashlight. HTC Desire EYE was priced at RM1,699 when it was first launched in Malaysia.
