UPDATE: HTC U11+ has landed in Malaysia with a RM3,099 price tag.
We are just days away from the new year and there’s already a new flagship smartphone launch that’s scheduled to take place in Malaysia very soon. As teased earlier, the HTC U11+ is coming to Malaysia and official distributor Brightstar has just sent out invites for the upcoming launch event that’s happening on 11 January 2018.
The U11+ is the latest flagship from HTC and it can be seen as the phablet version of its current U11. It features a larger 6.0″ display that pushes a QuadHD+ resolution of 2880×1440 in an 18:9 display aspect ratio.
Under the hood, it runs on a familiar top of the line Snapdragon 835 processor that comes in either 4GB RAM + 64GB storage or 6GB RAM + 128GB of storage. In the photography department, it gets a 12MP f/1.7 UltraPixel 3 main camera with OIS, while the front sports an 8MP f/2.0 selfie shooter.
Like the U11, it also features Boom Sound Hi-Fi edition stereo speakers and a pair of HTC USonic headphones with active noise cancellation via USB-C. It also gets IP68 dust/water resistance and it runs on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. Since this is a phablet device, it is powered by a larger 3,930mAh battery which supports QuickCharge 3.0. Of course, HTC’s squeezable “Edge Sense” is also included as well.
In Taiwan, the base 64GB storage model is priced at 19,900TWD (about RM2,725), while the higher spec 128GB storage option is priced at 21,900TWD (about RM2,999). If the U11+ follows the same trend as the HTC U11 in Malaysia, we should be getting the higher spec model. For reference, the HTC U11 was launched in Malaysia in June with a price tag of RM3,099.
