U Mobile, the telco that’s known for unlimited streaming and unlimited data plans is now introducing a tourist prepaid SIM card that comes with unlimited data. The co-branded WeChat Go SIM will provide Chinese tourists with unlimited social messaging and free data to stream videos out of China.
The SIM pack is priced at RM36.40 (China Pack) at Sunway Media retailers in China and RM38 (Malaysian Pack) at U Mobile outlets throughout Malaysia including KLIA and KLIA2. It comes with 5GB of local data, 60 minutes of calls (local and to China), free SMS (to all local networks) plus free 1GB data roaming that you can use in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. The U Mobile WeChat Go SIM pack will be available starting from 6 December 2017 and it comes with a 15-day validity period.
To provide Chinese travellers with an enhanced experience, WeChat Go SIM users can enjoy unlimited data for WeChat and to stream over 100,000 hours of videos from Lingcod TV. The Lingcod TV subscription is included for free as well.
With this WeChat Go SIM Pack, U Mobile is aiming to meet connectivity demands of Chinese tourists which the Malaysian Tourism and Culture Ministry is targeting to attract as many as 8 million into the country by 2020. Apart from providing connectivity, U Mobile will be working together with WeChat to pack even more benefits including mobile commerce. According to U Mobile’s CMO, Jasmine Lee, this would not only benefit Chinese tourists but also for anyone who’s a user of WeChat.
