You can get the OnePlus 5T in Malaysia before Christmas

It didn’t take too long for the OnePlus 5 to arrive in Malaysia. For the latest OnePlus 5T, strangely we haven’t heard anything about it since it was launched two weeks ago.

If you’ve been eyeing for the latest “flagship killer” from OnePlus, it looks like you can buy one ahead of the Christmas holidays.

Retailer DirectD has posted a teaser of the OnePlus 5T which indicates that you can get one right before 25 December. It isn’t clear if this is an import unit but usually they would tease a new product if it’s an official Malaysian set. Official distributor Brightstar has yet to make any announcements for the OnePlus 5T and it hasn’t appeared under our SIRIM certification database.

The OnePlus 5T is an upgraded version of the OnePlus 5 with a larger 6.01″ AMOLED display that comes in a taller 18:9 display aspect ratio. It still runs on a Snapdragon 835 processor that’s mated to either 6GB or 8GB of RAM with 64GB and 128GB storage respectively.

Another big difference is its dual-camera system at the rear. It now uses 16MP + 20MP cameras with both having a f/1.7 aperture lens. The secondary shooter doesn’t have a telephoto lens and the OnePlus 5T still lacks OIS assist. One area of improvement is that EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation) now works when you are shooting 4K videos. Meanwhile, for selfies, it has a 16MP shooter upfront. Powering the device is still a 3,300mAh battery which charges via USB Type C.

In the US, the OnePlus 5T is priced at US$499 (about RM2,040) and US$559 (about RM2,286) respectively.

If you really can’t wait, there are import sets of the OnePlus 5T being offered on Lazada Malaysia. Fulfilled by WOW Phone, they are offering the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model at RM2,399, while the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage option is going for RM2,799. According to the listing, stocks will be available on 8 December 2017.
