Samsung Gear Sport and Gear IconX 2018 are going on sale in Malaysia next month

Samsung Malaysia has announced the availability and pricing of its latest fitness wearable devices. After introducing its Gear Fit2 Pro fitness band, the Gear Sport and Gear IconX are finally hitting Malaysia.

Samsung Gear Sport

The Gear Sport is Samsung’s fitness-centric smartwatch that you can take for a swim with its 5ATM water resistance. It retails for RM1,299 which is slightly cheaper than the Gear S3 Frontier.

You get a 1.2″ AMOLED display that’s protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and you can replace the straps with any 20mm watch bands. It has a heart rate monitor at the back and it also supports Samsung Pay but only for NFC based payments only. It also gets built-in GPS and WiFi b/g/n support. Under the hood, the Gear Sport runs on a 1.0GHz processor, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of storage and a 300mAh battery. Like the Gear S3, it runs on Tizen OS.

Samsung Gear IconX 2018

Also announced is its newer 2nd generation Bluetooth in-ear headphones. Improving over the original IconX, this new 2018 model is now refreshed with better ergonomics for a better fit with various ear shapes. Battery life has been improved tremendously as it now does 7 hours of standalone use or 5 hours on Bluetooth playback.

The carrying case is much smaller as well and it comes with a slightly larger 340mAh battery (1st gen: 315mAh). This would charge the earbuds while it’s being stored in the case. The Gear IconX 2018 is officially priced at RM799, which is RM100 more than last year’s model.

Both wearables will be available starting 1 December at all Samsung Experience Stores nationwide. If you purchase the Gear Sport between 1-31 December 2017, you’ll get 2 complimentary Gear straps worth RM198 and a limited edition Watch Collector Box worth RM299 while stocks last.
