Apple‘s iPhone X has a little bit of trouble when it comes to watching videos due to its 19:5:9 aspect ratio, but YouTube for iOS has “fixed” the issue with its latest update.
The vast majority of content out there is at 16:9, which more or less covers the equivalent of a 5″ screen due to letterboxing. However, the latest YouTube update fixes that and allows you to use the screen fully.
But you still lose a bit from the top and the bottom of the video, and the sides lose bits due to the rounded corners and notch due to the screen’s construction. Not all hope is lost though, as you can still use the pinch gesture to fill up the screen.
The update is live as of version 12.43, so head on over to the App Store to manually update, if it hasn’t already automatically done so.
