Google has come out to address the issue with the Pixel 2‘s screen, but the company insists that there is nothing wrong with the device.
The screen burn-in problem, which Google refers to as differential aging, says the decay of the Pixel 2 XL‘s display is similar to OLED panels in “comparable products” and it’s in line with that of other premium smartphones.
However, they said that updates will be made in the future that will maximize the life of the display, and in regards to the colour saturation problem; there’s already an option on the phone that lets you boost colours by 10% for a more vivid screen. If that’s not enough for you, a new software update is coming that will add a new mode for even more saturated colours.
Last but not least, the company has given the Pixel 2 smartphones an additional 2-year warranty to give users peace of mind, and yes it covers both new and existing models of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. But bear in mind that the Preferred Care Program has not received an extension.
