Looking for a new Watch to go with your brand new iPhone 8? The latest Apple Watch Series 3 is hitting Malaysia on 20 October and it’s actually cheaper than last year’s model.
The Apple Watch Series 3 is officially priced from RM1,549 for the standard model that comes with an aluminium case and sports band. The smaller 38mm model is priced at RM1,549 while the larger 42mm Apple Watch is priced at RM1,699. As a comparison, the Apple Watch Series 2 was launched in Malaysia at RM1,649 for 38mm and RM1,749 for 42mm.
The same price also applies for the Apple Watch Nike+ edition that comes with its unique perforated sports band.
When the Apple Watch Series 3 was announced, the biggest feature is its 4G LTE connectivity. This allows you to use your watch to make/receive phone calls, stream Apple music and view notifications without having your iPhone with you. Unfortunately, this cellular model is only available in selected countries so we are getting the normal model that comes with built-in GPS and WiFi connectivity.
If you’re wondering where’s the more premium stainless steel and ceramic editions, that’s only available with the Apple Watch with LTE. So this means you’re left with the base aluminium case version with Ion-X glass.
The Apple Watch Series 3 is still water resistant up to 50 metres and it features a 2nd gen OLED Retina display that has a brightness of 1,000 nits. It has a heart rate sensor underneath and the same 18+ hours of battery life on a single charge.
New on the Apple Watch Series 3 is an updated Apple S3 chip, Bluetooth 4.2 support and it comes with a built-in barometric altimeter to measure relative elevation. You can learn more in our Apple Watch series 3 announcement post.
Although the Apple Watch series 3 is listed on the online store, pre-orders are not available at the moment. It will be available at authoised retailers such as Machines on the coming Friday, 20 October.
If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, the Apple Watch Series 1 that has IPX7 splash resistance and without built-in GPS is now going for RM1,149 (38mm) and RM1,299 (42mm).
