Samsung Galaxy Note Fan Edition comes to Malaysia end of this month

This is it. The Samsung Galaxy Note FE or better known as the Fan Edition is officially coming to Malaysia. This marks the return of the Galaxy Note7 with a safer battery. If you’re looking for an affordable alternative to the RM3,999 Galaxy Note8, this is a device worth considering.

In an effort to reduce its carbon footprint, Samsung had worked closely with dedicated specialists to reuse and recycle unused components from the Galaxy Note7 to produce this new Fan Edition. The 3,200mAh battery on the Galaxy FE is all new and it passes Samsung’s rigorous 8-point safety check and design process. As a comparison, the original Note7 had a larger 3,500mAh battery.

To refresh your memory, the Galaxy Note FE is similar to the Galaxy Note7. It has a 5.7″ Quad HD Super AMOLED display with dual curved edges and it runs on an Exynos 8890 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. At the rear, it gets a 12MP f/1.7 main camera and a 5MP selfie shooter at the front. The Note FE also lets you unlock your phone using your Iris or via a fingerprint sensor on its home button.

As expected from a Note series, it comes with an S Pen which has 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity like the Note8. The Note FE also has IP68 dust/water resistance, wireless charging and adaptive fast charging via USB Type C. Out of the box, it runs on their current Android 7.1.1 Nougat. There’s also Bixby home and reminders but you won’t get a dedicated side button like its newer flagship models. The Galaxy Note FE also comes with a colour-matching Clear View Cover in the box.

The Galaxy Fan Edition is officially priced at RM2,599 and it comes in Coral Blue and Black Onyx. If you’re interested, it will be available starting from 25 October 2017 at all Samsung Experience Stores, authorised dealers and selected channel partners. It is worth pointing out that Malaysia is the first market outside of South Korea to get the Galaxy Note FE.
