honor introduces its first smartphone with an 18:9 FullView Display

Following the launch of the nova 2i, Huawei’s youthful sub-brand, honor, has revealed its own FullView display smartphone with the honor 7X. Similar to the nova 2i, it has a 5.93″ FullHD+ display that pushes 2160×1080 pixels resolution in a wide 18:9 display aspect ratio. This gives it almost 6″ of screen in a 5.5″ smartphone body.

The similarity to the nova 2i continues on the inside. It gets a mid-range Kirin 659 Octa-Core processor that’s mated to 4GB of RAM. It has storage options ranging from 32GB to 128GB which are expandable via microSD up to 128GB. Powering the device is also a 3,340mAh battery which charges via microUSB.

While it gets a premium full metal unibody design, the honor 7X’s dual camera setup is located on the top left corner while the fingerprint sensor is located dead-centre at the rear. Like the nova 2i, it has a 16MP main camera and a secondary 2MP shooter for depth of field effects. For selfies, it has a single 8MP front camera with a host of beautification features.

Out of the box, it runs on EMUI 5.1 that’s based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The honor 7X is also a dual-SIM device with a hybrid tray design which accepts either a microSD card or nano-SIM for its second slot.

The honor 7X is available in 3 specs and below is their pricing in China:

4GB RAM + 32GB storage – 1299CNY (about RM832)
4GB RAM + 64GB storage – 1699CNY (about RM1,089)
4GB RAM + 128GB storage – 1999CNY (about RM1,282)

The honor 7X will go on sale in China beginning 17 October and there’s no word on its availability for international markets. If you’re interested in this device, the very similar nova 2i is priced at RM1,299 in Malaysia. It comes with a total of four cameras and it will be available nationwide beginning this Friday, 13 October 2017. You can check out our first impressions to learn more.
