We already knew the honor 9 was a handsome device but it doesn’t really hit you until you see it in real life. This handset takes what its predecessor did well and takes it up a notch in a big way.
Here’s everything you’ll find in the box. You’ve got the phone, documents plus a SIM tool, a Huawei Quick Charge power brick and a USB C cable. No fancy accessories.
The power brick pushes 5V2a and 9V2A current. Not Huawei’s SuperCharge standard, then.
Around back, you get a glass back too, but this time it’s curved towards the edge.
It makes for a nicer fit in the hand. There’s also a 3,200 mAh battery inside.
The back glass still has honor’s beautiful Aurora glass design.
In front, you have a 5.15-inch Full HD display that’s pretty crisp.
Inside, it’s powered by a Kirin 960 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There’s a higher spec version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage too.
You also get a dual-camera system made up of a 12MP colour sensor and a 20MP monochrome sensor. It’s capable of Huawei’s Hybrid Zoom.
It’s hard to deny that it looks a little (a lot) like a Xiaomi Mi 6. But, when it comes to build, the honor 9 feels a whole lot better. It feels more refined and the choice of aluminium instead of stainless steel cuts down on weight too.
Xiaomi’s Mi 6 also has a more common mirror finish instead of the honor 9’s sexy Aurora glass. Point goes to honor here.
