What’s better than a well-built flagship smartphone running a near-stock Android OS at a great price point? Well, how about if we add more power and storage?
Was the Nokia 8 that launched in Malaysia too wimpy for you? Good news, you might have the opportunity to pick up a more powerful version soon!
WinFuture reports that HMD Global will be releasing a higher spec version of their flagship Nokia 8 smartphone in Germany on the 20th of October 2017. This new handset will come with 6GB of RAM and a juicy 128GB of internal storage. I’m not particularly concerned about the RAM boost because the Nokia 8 is already a speedy phone, but I certainly appreciate the bump in storage. More space for Bothies right? Ahem.
In any case, the rest of the smartphone remains the same. This means you get the same 5.3-inch Quad HD IPS display pushing a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels in front and the octa-core 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor inside that receives juice from a 3,090 mAh battery.
For photos, you also get the 13MP + 13MP dual-camera setup at the back in a monochrome + RGB configuration that comes topped with Zeiss optics. In front, you also have a 13MP f/2.0 selfie shooter.
According to WinFuture, the high-spec Nokia 8 will only come in Polished Blue and be priced at EUR669 (around RM3,343). Although that seems high, it’s worth noting that European prices tend to be higher than Malaysian prices. There is no word on when or if this variant will be making its way into Malaysia but we’ve reached out to HMD Global and are awaiting their response.
