The all-screen and almost bezel-less Mi MIX 2 is now available in Malaysia. This is the successor of the original Xiaomi Mi MIX and it’s more practical now thanks to its smaller 5.99″ display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio.
Take note that this isn’t official from Xiaomi Malaysia but they are direct imports by DirectD which is covered by their own 1 year in-house warranty. They have brought in all three standard Mi MIX 2 options which come in ceramic black. The Mi MIX 2 on sale are priced as follows:
6GB RAM + 64GB stoage – RM2,499
6GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM2,799
6GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM3,099
To recap on the specs, the Mi MIX 2 gets a 5.99″ IPS display that does a FullHD+ resolution of 2160×1080. As a comparison, the original MIX had a 6.4″ screen with a 17:9 aspect ratio. Like the first version, the screen stretches edge to edge on the sides and the top, leaving a small chin at the bottom to house its front facing camera.
In terms of build, the MI MIX 2 uses ceramic at the back which is more resistant to scratches while the sides use an ultra-slim 7000 series aluminium frame. Powering the MI MIX 2 is a 2.45GHz Snapdragon 835 processor that’s mated to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM. You get storage options ranging from 64GB to 256GB which are not expandable.
For taking pictures, it gets a 12MP Sony IMX386 camera with 4-axis OIS while the front comes with a 5MP selfie camera. You also get a rear mounted fingerprint sensor placed right below the 18K gold plated camera bump. Powering the device is a 3,400mAh battery and it charges via USB Type-C. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
If you’re interested, you can head over to DirectD. Alternatively, a couple of retailers are also offering the Mi MIX 2 from RM2,549 for the 64GB version and RM2,999 for the 256GB unit on Lazada.
